It’s official: SODA now has more than 100 chapters!
SODA began ten years ago with a single chapter at Washington University in St. Louis. Inspired by her sister Laura's life-saving legacy, Sara Royf (née Miller) created a way for students to advocate for organ, eye, and tissue donation on their campuses.
Does your local school have a SODA chapter? Check out our newly updated chapter map to find out.
Thanks to Sara’s vision, the dedication of our national team, and the passion of hundreds of students, SODA reached 50 chapters in 2022. At that time, we set an ambitious goal: to double our chapter network to 100 by the end of 2025 by providing best-in-class student support and building deeply rooted community partnerships.

Now, a full year ahead of schedule, we’ve done it! SODA has grown into a thriving network of 113 (and counting!) high school, college, and graduate school chapters in collaboration with 32 Organ Procurement Organization partners. In total, these chapters have educated more than 150,000 people about organ donation and registered more than 9,400 organ, eye, and tissue donors.

This life-saving change is critical as over 103,000 Americans are currently waiting for a transplant. More chapters mean more student advocates, more peer-to-peer education, more registered donors, and, ultimately, more lives saved.
But we’re not stopping here. Just as we grew from one chapter to 100, we’re already looking ahead. We’re focused on deepening our impact, expanding partnerships, and equipping the next generation of life-saving advocates to make an even greater difference.

None of this would have been possible without you. Whether you’ve supported SODA as a partner, financial donor, or student advocate, you’ve played a vital role in this journey. Thank you for being part of our mission to save lives.
