Below are some event ideas to help you celebrate National Donate Life Month. Don’t forget, SODA provides grants to cover event costs. Submit a request here.

In-Person Event Ideas:

• Sodas and Superstars: Host a tabling event and distribute sodas to people who are interested in learning more about organ, eye, and tissue donation.

• Stargazing Meditation Session: Lead a guided meditation focused on stargazing and reflection. Encourage participants to contemplate the interconnectedness of life while honoring the generosity of organ donors.

• Starlight Vigil: Hold a candlelit vigil in a public space, where participants can gather to remember loved ones who have given the gift of life through organ donation and spread awareness about its importance. 

• Guiding Light Documentary Screening: Screen a movie or documentary about organ, eye, and tissue donation, followed by a discussion or guest speaker. We recommend 2Hearts (1 hour 40 minutes), Living with Kidney Failure (40 minutes), and We Speak Life (15 minutes).

Virtual Event Ideas:

• Shine a Light on Donation: Feature the stories of your peers and community members who have a personal connection to organ, eye, and tissue donation on your chapter's social media. Tag Donate Life America, SODA National, and your Organ Procurement Organization (OPO).

• Starlight Vigil Livestream: Livestream a candlelit vigil on social media, allowing participants to join virtually and light candles in honor of organ donors. Invite guest speakers to share their personal connection to donation. 

• Virtual Stargazing Night: Organize a virtual stargazing event where participants can reflect on the importance of organ, eye, and tissue donation from the comfort of their homes.
